Grace

Introduction

Grace is a tool to make two-dimensional plots of scientific data.
It runs under various (if not all) flavours of UNIX with X11 and
Motif. Its capabilities are roughly similar to GUI-based programs
like Sigmaplot or Microcal Origin plus script-based tools like
gnuplot or Genplot. Its strength lies in the fact that it combines
the convenience of a graphical user interface with the power of a
scripting language which enables it to do sophisticated calculations
  or perform automated tasks.

The home of Grace (where sources and documentation can be found) is at http://plasma-gate.weizmann.ac.il/Grace
As you may have guessed it's the successor to Xmgr. Grace 5.0 would be the equivalent to Xmgr 5.0 if the latter would exist :-)

Versions above 4.1.0 use a configure script to generate the system-specific Makefiles (e.g.Make.conf) and other configuration files (config.h). Until the configure script will work properly under OS/2 (e.g. using PDKSH) I'll supply a small REXX-script which uses a standard set of files. In future it may modify the few installation-specific parts (e.g. whether libhelp or Xbae are available) but by now you may to edit it on your own.
  1. Except obvious bugs there may hidden ones e.g. unprecise or even wrong calculations. You have been warned ...
  2. Read the documentation in the subdirectory doc/ first on how to proper install the package. You can use xmhelp as the default help application (i.e. it will display the HTML-based online help)
  3. To get more ideas what the (OS/2-specific) problems are get the source package and read the documentation, especially readme.os2

This Grace port is currently on hold. If you like you keep this OS/2 port alive please send a message to the grace mailinglist at graceATplasma-gate.weizmann.ac.il and ask to switch the docs' source format from linuxdoc to something reasonable like HTML.
